Inside Sales Representative
We have an immediate need for a motivated self-starter to kickstart inside sales activities
within our company. The position requires technical knowledge of common equipment used in a datacenter
environment, which includes servers, firewalls, network switches, as well as the different varieties of
UNIX-based and Windows Server operating systems.
The position doesn't require you to be able to perform technical tasks on customer equipment, but
to be able to "talk the talk" when a customer throws a semi-technical pre-sales question at you.

What you'd be doing:
- Fielding telephone and email inquiries on the sale of dedicated servers and per-server colocation.
- Negotiating and subsequently issuing quotes, sales orders, and contract paperwork to customers.
- Working with Finance, IP Engineering, and Datacenter Operations groups to process and complete customer orders.
- Providing feedback on product direction when we refresh our product lineup (once or twice annually).
The ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of computer hardware - how it's built, why it breaks, and when/why to sell hardware upgrades.
- Good understanding of basic routing, firewalls, and "how the Internet works."
- Excellent English skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to prepare and deliver written proposals with limited supervision.
- Previous experience in a sales-related position; technology-related work experience a plus.

Datacenter Technician
Server Central is looking for additional staff for our Chicago datacenter.
If you're good with FreeBSD, Linux, can tolerate Windows, and enjoy troubleshooting Intel hardware, this job is for you. We offer
an exciting, fast-paced environment with a diverse client base and plenty of variety in day to day operations.

Salary: Starting at 35k, commensurate with experience

Duty/Responsibility:
- Interface with customers and vendors
- Answer phones and provide quality support
- Perform server and network troubleshooting
- End-to-end trouble ticket handling, troubleshooting, and resolution
- Network event tracking/notification
- Configure and Install equipment for service orders
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong experience in troubleshooting/fault isolation, teamwork, and multitasking
- Minimum of 3 years experience, preferably in a datacenter or tech support environment
- Strong understanding of Unix-based operating systems (FreeBSD, Linux)
- Willing to work any shift as needed (24x7 operation) (including weekends and holidays)
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated willingness to learn, teach, and share knowledge
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
- FreeBSD, Linux, and Windows networking, operation and troubleshooting
- Physical configuration and maintenance/troubleshooting of x86 hardware
- Ethernet cabling, crimping and testing
Intermediate understanding of networking and internet protocols:
- Ethernet Switches
- IP Addressing (CIDR/Netmasks)
- DNS (basic dns/bind troubleshooting)
- HTTP (basic apache troubleshooting)
- SMTP (basic sendmail/qmail/postfix troubleshooting)
